Great XC ski underwear I bought these leggings for a cross country ski trip to Norway and thought I would be alternating them with my existing long johns for the week as I was concerned they might chafe. No way. They were totally comfortable, warm and thin enough to look good under tight ski pants. I wore them every day. They washed well upon my return. These will be the go-to long underwear for my winter activities from now on. I'm becoming a real Icebreaker convert! April 1, 2013
can't imagine getting thru winter w/out these! These comfy, warm, lightweight Icebreaker Pace leggings are going to get me thru the cold winter beautifully. I'm 5'6'', and a size 14-16. the XL fit perfectly. The little slice of magenta at the ankles gives a little splash of color. Love these. Thanks to my thoughtful husband for buying them for me! Great base layer! I bought these online, so I wasn't able to try them out before purchase. I wasn't sure whether these were proper leggings that could be worn independently as well as a base layer. When I received them, I realized that I wouldn't be wearing these without something else on top — they are slightly sheer and bag out a bit when wearing. That said, these are an exceptional base layer. I've used these for running, cycling, and cross-country skiing underneath other clothes. And around the house as a very lazy layer! For those that are trying to decide between the "Pace" line and the "Express" line, a few words. I'm in the most northernly Canadian city and I understood "cool weather" appropriate to mean around -5°C. If you choose to wear these as the only layer, however, I couldn't imagine being comfortable below around 5~10°C. They're really quite light. I wear one lightly insulating layer over these for intense aerobic activity down to -15°C, but that's only comfortable because I'm moving. What I'm saying is that my idea of "cool" is quite a bit cooler than Icebreaker's probably-NZ-inspired definition. I'm planning on buying the Express leggings for next winter, as I think they'll be a bit more useful for someone who's dealing with substantially "cooler" conditions during the winter than the norm. All said, these are very good longjohns that I'll be wearing for years. I'm giving away my not-wool base layers! The one star off is really just because of the confusing website information. Size Unfortunately after reading other reviews I chose a medium instead of a small. Everyone said they ran "small" However, at 5:4 and 128 pounds the medium is very baggy on me! I would say they run true to size. Everything else about it I love, I was just disappointed it was too big. February 7, 2011
These leggings are breathable! Having a love for Marino wool, and Icebreaker gear in particular, I was so excited to buy these leggings and couldn't wait to try them out in the mountains. I went out for a 2 and half hour run across the mountains in the rain. As the material got wet, the pants started dropping between the legs, which was preventing me from running. As I tried to pull up my pants, I tore holes in the material with my fingers. I then tried to pull them up along the calf to feed them back up my thigh, but managed to tear an other few holes in the lower leg. RESULT: Came back with a pair of very breathable pants hanging around my knees. Very disappointed as I LOVE Icebreaker gear. Maybe these pants are too fine for mountain runners who like to run in all weather. They are extremely comfortable and fit fine when its not raining. They are perfect for cycling in the cold. I have patched up all the holes in my pants as I still love them, and am saving them for a cold but DRY day!! August 26, 2012
