CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE

If your measurements are close to two sizes, choose the smaller size for a tighter fit or the larger size for a looser fit.

If your body measurements result in different sizes, we recommend using your chest measurement for tops and your hip measurement for pants.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR BODY

Chest: Place the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest/bust.

Waist: Place the measuring tape at your natural waist, the narrowest point on your torso.

Hip: Place the measuring tape around the fullest point on your hips.

Looking after your new Icebreaker couldn’t be easier –
just throw it in the washing machine (unless it’s an Outerwear Jacket or Black Sheep Knitwear) and line dry. For specific advice on caring for your garment, please check its care label.

Additional Care Instructions:

Icebreaker garments are designed to be easy for you to care for. We recommend that you wash your Icebreaker garments on a normal warm or cool machine wash cycle with regular powder or liquid detergent, not wool detergent. Don’t use fabric softener or bleach. Separate lights and darks as usual. Also, do not expose any Icebreaker garment to heat and do not tumble dry. Line dry or lie flat in the shade.

NOTE: After your first 2-3 uses, we recommend that you wash the garment separately to diminish the appearance of any short fibers from the fabric.

Complete instructions for best results:
  • Wash like colors together (e.g separate lights and darks)
  • Wash prints inside out
  • Close all zippers
  • Use warm or cool machine wash on a normal cycle (avoid a hot wash, this contributes to shrinkage)
  • Use regular detergent, not wool detergent
  • Do not use bleach or fabric softener under any circumstances (your Icebreaker couldn’t be any softer)
  • Wash occasionally with denim (e.g. jeans with the zipper closed) or other coarse fabrics to remove any loose fibers.
  • Do not iron prints or labels
  • Line dry garments – do not tumble dry (except socks, see below)

For Icebreaker Coastal, Pureplus Jackets & Black Sheep Knitwear:
  • Dry clean only

For Icebreaker Socks:
  • Only socks: Tumble dry on a low heat, inside out

I currently live in Hawaii, but have lived 10 years in California and been all over the world and tried all kinds of outdoor clothing. I got caught up in the synthetic craze a few years back until I bought my first icebreaker shirt while I was visiting New Zealand. At first I was hesitant due to the price since I wear my things hard and don't have a lot of money, however it only took one and I was sold. I wore that first shirt for over a month everyday and night while I was tramping and never washed it until I came home, more then 3 months later! - it just didn't need it. Synthetic ones I've had became hard and stinky after a few wears and didn't improve that much with washing. I love the warm, natural feel of the marino and continue to be amazed by it's versatility. It keeps me warm when there is a chill in the air, breathes to ensure I do not overheat when I'm hiking or climbing and dries quickly if I get caught in the rain, layers well when the weather turns on you and packs down small and light and can be worn over and over without washing and still always looks nice to wear out on the town after a day, week or even a month in the backcountry. It seems like the only thing that can destroy a marino product is small tears from thorns and bushwacking that lead to holes that cause it to look worn out.
The bliss hood is a little bigger cut, I ordered a Medium and thought it might shrink slightly, which it has not at all even though I have washed it and dried it in the dryer (which I tend to do by accident - I think that makes it a little softer and fuzzier) about 3 times now (my Small Retreat tank did after 2 washes). I love the hood and use it often to block the wind. The sleeve is like a hoody and feels bulky compared to the rest of it which is lightweight.
